Can you imagine a day where the entire congregation serves the community together? On May 24th, Community Lutheran moves out and about Escondido to serve our neighbors. Join us in projects like picking up trash at schools, painting Interfaith, furnishing an apartment for a family in need, and putting together gifts for the Veterans hopsitals. Care Packages for the Troops
Join our young adult group on Sunday nights in March to put together care packages for deployed troops in honor of Mark Hamill and Tim Stinson who are currently overseas. We are collecting a variety of items including reading material, clothing, candy, soup, toiletries, and more. Scroll to the bottom of the page for a complete list. Shipping for individual boxes can be sponsored for $13.
Welcome Basket Delivery
Help deliver welcome baskets to new developments of houses surrounding the church. Giving them a basket of gifts along with a New Testament and church information is our way of welcoming them to the neighborhood! Families continue to show interest in our preschool and church because of the welcome baskets.
Volunteer at "Experience AIDS"
Join World Vision in advocating for support for Africans with AIDS by volunteering at their "Experience AIDS" exhibit in San Diego on April 26th from 2:00-6:00PM. We will serve as assistants at the walk-through exhibit which is designed like an African villiage. Preschool eScrip and Soup Labels
eScrip is a way for the preschool to raise funds through everyday purchases. eScrip costs nothing for the member. Money is raised by registering gift cards, grocery store cards, or credit cards online. When the cards are used at participating stores and websites, merchants donate a percentage of the purchase to our preschool. Also, save up your Campbell's Soup Labels and drop them off in front of the preschool for the school to win prizes!
Items to Ship in Care Packages for Military Personnel
TOILETRIES: Cleansing wipes, toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo, deoderant, lotion, soap, body wash, hand sanitizer, shaving cream, disposable razors, toilet paper, kleenex, eyeglass wipes.
PERSONAL CARE ITEMS: Sunblock, aloe-vera, throad lozenges, cough drops, gum, mints, eye drops, chapstick, vaseline, pain relievers, q-tips, feminine hygiene products for military women, foot powder.
COMMUNICATION ITEMS: Envelopes, paper, pens, pads of paper, notebooks, single-use cameras, photos from home, letters and cards.
OTHER SUPPLIES: Sunglasses, batteries, duct tape, super glue, flashlight with a red lens, 1 and 2 gallon ziplock plastic bags.
READING MATERIAL: Newspaper clippings, Comics, Paperback books, magazines, Bible.
CLOTHING: Socks, underwear, T-shirts (white), black boot socks.
FUN STUFF: Frisbee, Nerf Football, Hacky Sack, decks of cards, hand-held games, music CDs.
FOOD AND DRINK ITEMS: Coffee, tea, hot cocoa mix, Gatorade powder, candy, nuts, power bars, crackers, canned soups, Ramen noodles.
